"Blogging can help us to improve our writing skill" - aye, that's true! But when you stop blogging for quite a while, then the skill will degrade - and that's exactly what happens to me :(. It feels like my fingers are stiff to dance on and tap the lined letter buttons on the keyboard. I hear them saying, "What and how are we supposed to move? Which letter buttons should we tap to form some clusters of words? What are we going to say? Oh God, we found a deadlock!"
I know workload is responsible for the deadlock that couples of minutes are needed to drive my mind get concentrate and quieten to come up with something written in a peaceful flow. "It's not easy," my brain says. "I know my dear friend, as I can feel it so well. But, I always believe that you can always do your best. Let's try and keep moving on," I convince my dear B. "Aye!", it answer smiling :D
Some weeks ago, a bento pal in FB shared me a link about an international bento contest by Bento&Co. I was really happy and thankful as I always missed the previous Bento&Co's contests. I was positive to join the contest, but at first there was always a nervous feeling and a sort of lack of confidence as the previous participants were really amazing with their bento creations :D. But, let's just have fun taking a part in the contest and wish for the best ^^
The theme for Bento&Co's 2013 International Bento Contest was Pasta! We were asked to make a bento including pasta dish. This theme was quite challenging to me, It took me days to think about what to come up with. I then remembered about a type of sushi that I had been wanting to make, chirashi sushi! Why not I make a sushi from pasta?! I made up my mind and finally came up with Chirashi Spaghetti Bento :D. For the bento, I went with my favorite simple Tuna Spaghetti with cherry tomato. My chirashi spaghetti had blanched and seasoned snow pea, lotus root, shiitake mushroom, lemon shrimp, and sagoo pearl (I couldn't find salmon roe here :D) as the toppings. In another tier, I had rose flower bouquet (made from rolled thin egg omelet), yummy salmon cake (enjoyed with mayo and hot tomato ketchup), blanched broccoli, carrot butterflies freshen up with kiwi fruit, orange and kyuri cucumber slices.
And... The thing still hard to believe for me is... My bento was chosen as the International Grand Winner *faint. It's too good to be true.... Up to this moment, I still need to convince myself that I'm not dreaming. It's a moment that will always have a special place in my heart, and the one that will always make smile everytime I remember it someday :). I don't know what to say except massive thank you to Bento&Co Team, Japan Experience, and other sponsorhips for conducting this awesomely cool bento contest and generously granting me with a trip to Japan ^^ *speechless. Also big congratulations to Erika as Japan Grand Winner, the 20 finalists, and the all talented participants - you're all the best! :D. Let's keep spreading the love through bento ^^
God... It's just like a dream comes true. I remember when I was a senior high student, I often spent the class break time in the corner of school's library to learn Japanese books or to enjoy the beauty of Japan by flipping page by page of out-of-date second Japanese magazines that our school could provide for us ^^. I was dreamy and imagined: Can I go to Japan someday? :'). Oh... Your surprise went wildly beyond my imagination, O My Dear God.... My endless gratefulness is only to You :')
Again, thank you Bento&Co for the awesome bento contest :D. Dear friends, don't forget to participate the next year contest. Congratulations to all winners, all the best!
