 Tempeh Cats Bento
Hello February! Wow, time does fly so fast; bye bye January 2012, thanks for the wonderful days :)). Frankly, now I don't have any ideas for babbling topic in this post. My mind is actually somewhere, haunted by a pile of translation work and teaching stuff. This is a quick escape from those tedious activities ;D.

Well, today's bento post brings brown cats made from tempeh as the characters. I steamed a medium block of tempeh (Indonesian fermented soy cake), mashed it, seasoned it, shaped it into cat heads, pan-fried it, and then decorated the tempeh cats with facial details from cheese, carrot, pea pod (for nose), and nori cutouts. I "glued" the cutouts with mayonnaise. The side dishes were tamagoyaki with small-diced blanched carrot and chopped green onion, beef cocktail, fried tongkol/tuna cake, ayam kecap pedas, and blanched broccoli florets. I don't know the exact English name of Tongkol fish. Some call it Tuna. I have checked it in Wikipedia and I found this: Euthynnus affinis, the kawakawa, little or mackerel tuna or false albacore.

As the theme of my bento post today is cat, here I have a pict of another handsome cat prince from my home ^^. He's Prince Singo. Singo means Lion in English. He is named Singo since his fur color is just like lion's. Look at the fur pattern on his forehead; looks like flame. And those eyes, ooohhhh... so beautiful :)). Singo loves to play with ribbon; so, I like to attach red ribbon on his neck heheheeh :D.

Prince Singo

I've done partly with January IFP Round Up. As I'll be out of town on the weekend for a fun outbound with my working mates, I'm really sorry that I'll post it next week ^^v. Have a wonderful day everyone! ^^
