Fruity Teddy Bento and A New Steamer :D

Fruity Teddy Bento
Hachoo! Hachoo! *sneezing*. Whoaaa… my blog is very dusty since I’ve abandoned it for these last few weeks. I’ve been so occupied by my thesis and that’s why no time for blogging :(. When everyone had a great time celebrating the New Year Eve, I also had a GREAT time sinking myself analyzing so much data from my research LOL! When the sounds of fireworks and fire crackers were always fun and merry on the previous years’ New Year Eves; by this year *2010*, they became the most terrible sounds that made me so impatient since they “cracked up” my concentration when I was analyzing the data. FYI, some people blasted the fire crackers on a small field exactly lied just in front of my boardinghouse! Tell me, it was the most boring New Year Eve of mine *indeed*. Oh ya, the thesis examination starts at January 21st to 30th; so there will be only a few posts for this month since I need to study, study, study, and study for the exam :D, wish me luck!

Oh well,
need something fresh and energizing for the kick off post of 2010’s blogging, and I think this bento can represent the idea :D - I love the red ribbon to epitomize the new spirit for a new year’s great start. This look-energizing bento features strawberry, kiwi, steamed rice, scrambled egg, boiled carrot flowers and green bean leaves, and potato perkedel teddy. Wait! Perkedel??? Hehe, I can’t find the right diction. Perkedel is a croquette of spiced ground boiled potato *sometimes added with ground meat*. But it’s not like a real croquette which is consumed as a snack, perkedel is consumed as side dishes. Perkedel is one of Indonesian signature side dishes that can be easily found at many food stalls or restaurants. It is best enjoyed with warm rice or with “Nasi Kuning”/Indonesian fragrant yellow rice. This bento belongs to my old bento; see, I made the eyes, mouth, and nose from asturo paper :P

Yoo hoo!! In the middle of my busiest days, I’m happy to receive a new steamer from a dear blogger friend, Mbak Novie :D. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mbak Nopiii Taiiiank :D. She’s an Indonesian living in Adelaide currently, and when she went home to Surabaya on the last holiday she sent me these stuffs :D. Surprise! The steamer came in my boardinghouse with a cute Miss Platypus, two Koala men, and ehehehe *I luv it I luv it!* a box of Cadbury Roses chocolate :D.

Haha,
living in a boardinghouse where there are only a frying pan and two little saucepans and no steamer, I need to borrow one from my boardinghouse’s lady when I want to cook something steamed :D. And I sometimes wrote and shared the story about it with my food post hehe. Having read my “poor” story :P, Mbak Novie promised to buy me one when she’s back to Indonesia – and she did! Thank you… Hehehehe *doing an octopus dance --> this is my dance when I’m happy :D*. The chocolate went to library with me yesterday as my another lib-time-snackie bento. Thank you Mbak Nopi :D
