It is the silliest name I’ve ever made for my food creation. Does it have something to do with Jamaica? Nope! Okay, what came on my mind first when I saw the color combination of this food was Bob Marley (that is so Jamaican hehehe), as you can see from the colors of my sweet porridge ingredients – green, yellow, and red (so rasta). One of my friends suggested another silly name for it, “Traffic Light Sweet Poridge”, WHAAAATTT??? She argued that a traffic light also has the three same colors of rasta. Thank you dear, but I think mine is better haha (^_^)v. Oh… I do love this sweet porridge’s beautiful colors combination - just like the lyrics of my favorite song “I Wanna Know You” by Miley Cyrus and David Archie - ‘a beautiful and perfect combination’ :D. And of cos… a perfect sweet thing for fasting breaker.

Jamaican Sweet Porridge

Ingredients:
Pumpkin, seeded and peeled, diced, rinsed and steamed
Mung bean, rinsed and boiled until soft
Red pearl sago, cooked until soft
Coconut milk
Pandan leaf, knotted
Sugar
Brown sugar
A pinch of salt

Directions:
1. Heat coconut milk, sugar, brown sugar, salt and pandan leaf in saucepan on medium heat while stirring continuously to maintain the coconut milk well.
2. When it is boiling, remove from heat. Let it cool down until warm.
3. Place pumpkin, mung bean, and red pearl sago in a glass or a bowl. Pour it with its sweet sauce.


If you can’t find red pearl sago, use the white one and color it with red food color when you’re cooking it.

Bubur Manis Jamaica

Bahan:
Labu --> kupas, hilangkan bijinya, potong dadu, cuci bersih, lalu kukus
Kacang hijau, cuci lalu rebus sampai masak dan lunak
Sagu mutiara merah, masak sampai lunak
Santan
Daun pandan, simpulkan
Gula
Gula merah
Sedikit garam

Cara Membuat:
1. Panaskan santan. Tambahkan gula, gula merah, garam, dan daun pandan. Aduk terus supaya santan tidak pecah.
2. Ketika sudah mendidih, angkat. Biarkan sampai hangat dan panasnya berkurang.
3. Di sebuah gelas atau mangkok, tata labu, kacang hijau, dan sagu mutiara. Tuang saus santan manis di atasnya.

Tips:
Jika tidak ada sagu mutiara warna merah, bisa pakai yang warna putih dengan menambahkan pewarna makanan warna merah ketika sedang memasaknya.
