Steamed Bok Choy with Stir-Fried Chicken

Bokchoy with Stir-Fried Chicken
When a veggie vendor stopping by in front of my boardinghouse on one late afternoon, I couldn’t resist myself to buy some green bok choys that were so refreshing to my eyes. When I bought them, actually I had no idea what to do with them, the only thing I knew at that time was bringing them to refrigerator first is a good idea. I just didn’t want to blame myself if later I regretted not to buy them when they had already been available to be pick :D. On the next following day, I googled for recipes use bok choy for their ingredients. The search landed me on Mas Budi's site for his great recipe Bok Choy Siram Tumis Daging/Bok Choy with Stir Fry Beef. I used his recipe but with some little modifications. In the original recipe, the bok choy are stir fried along with the meat. But mine were steamed instead of stir fried. I also changed the beef with chicken as beef is too expensive for me to buy as a student :D, and I altered red bell pepper with red chili since I don’t have one. Thanks Mas Budi for such a yummy recipe :D.

Steamed Bok Choy with Stir Fry Chicken

3 bok choys, rinse well then steam or boil (whole part)
150 gram chicken meat, chop (original recipe uses beef)
2 red chilies, seeded and square-sliced (original recipe uses red bell pepper)
Oil to stir fry

1 yellow onion, slice vertically
2 cloves of garlic, chop
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp light soya sauce
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp ground white pepper
¾ tsp sugar

1. Heat oil, sauté yellow onion and garlic until fragrant. Add chicken meat, stir fry until the meat changes in color.
2. Add oyster sauce, light soya sauce, sugar, ground pepper, and salt. Stir well.
3. About 1-2 minutes before you remove it from heat, add the red chili. Cook until done.
4. On a plate, place the cooked bok choys. Pour the stir fry chicken meat over it.
