PAREPE NUGGET – Chicken Nugget in Parepe Spice

Parepe? Unfamiliar name and never tried it before. I have no insight for these questions: How does the original look of this food look like? What is actually its main ingredient? How does it taste? All I know about Parepe is a modification recipe I got from Nova Magazine, and on the mag is stated that Parepe is food originated from Celebes Island. Hmm, super duper easy recipe… gonna try it! Due to its simplicity to be made, I think it’s a great alternative as side dish for Sahur time in this Holy Ramadhan month… Having this dish I think just like enjoying fried nugget with sambal haha :D

Parepe Nugget
(Chicken Nugget in Parepe Spice)

20 pcs chicken nugget, fried
1 stalk lemongrass, bruised
Chicken powder *opt*

Spices to paste:
5 cloves of shallot
3 red chilies
½ tsp toasted shrimp paste/terasi
Salt and sugar to season

1. Sauté the spice paste and lemongrass until fragrant. Add chicken powder. Stir.
2. Add the chicken nuggets, stir evenly. Cook for about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat.


Parepe Nugget

20 nugget ayam, goreng
1 btg serai, memarkan
Penyedap *opt*

Bumbu Halus:
5 buah bawang merah
3 cabai merah
½ sdt terasi panggang/goreng
Garam dan gula secukupnya

Cara Membuat:
1. Tumis bumbu halus dan serai sampai harum. Tambahkan penyedap.
2. Masukkan nugget ayam, aduk rata. Masak 1-2 menit, angkat.
