Lemongrass Fried Rice

One thing I like when I back home is I can get some fresh herbs and spices directly from a little garden behind my grandma’s house for cooking. I don’t need to go to traditional market to buy them just like I do when I’m in my boardinghouse. The fresher ingredients and spices used, the fresher taste of food will be resulted. When I went home on the previous month, the herbs treasure on my grandma’s garden forced me to do something with them. I just couldn’t help my itchy hands picking those fresh herbs. Okay, I got kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass stalks, some root crops, and basil leaves from the garden. Making lemongrass fried rice to use up those herbs I thought was a great idea. But, fried rice again? I’m a true lover of fried rice. Never get bored with it. Hurrying to the fridge and checking what ingredients available to make the fried rice. In a short time…. Voila! A plate of lemongrass fried rice was ready to be enjoyed :D hahahahahaha *Mbah Surip mode on*.

Lemongrass Fried Rice

2 plates of leftover rice
Carrot, matchstick

1 yellow onion, coarsely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 lemongrass (white part only), thinly sliced
1 kaffir lime leaf, discard the mid part, thinly sliced
1 cm fresh ginger, thinly sliced
1 red chili, angled-sliced
Salt and sugar as desired
Cooking oil to sauté

1.Sauté the spice until fragrant except sugar and salt.
2.Bring in the rice. Add sugar and salt, stir evenly.
3.Add carrot before you remove from heat, stir well.
4.Serve with fresh Indonesian sweet basil leaves and fried egg.



Nasi Goreng Serai

2 piring nasi (bisa pake nasi sisa kemarin yang disimpan di kulkas)
Wortel, iris bentuk korek api

1 bawang bombay, cincang kasar
2 siung bawang putih, cincang halus
1 btg serai (ambil bagian putihnya saja), iris tipis
1 daun jeruk purut, hilangkan batangnya lalu iris tipis
1 cm jahe, iris tipis
1 cabai merah besar, iris serong
Garam dan gula secukupnya
Minyak untuk menumis

Cara Membuat:
1. Tumis semua bumbu sampai harum, kecuali garam dan gula.
2. Masukkan nasi, tambahkan garam dan gula. Aduk rata.
3. Sebelum diangkat, tambahkan wortel, aduk rata.
4. Sajikan dengan daun Kemanggi dan telur ceplok.
